Volt-ure has the longest history of any Mob bird, and the reason is that it is written as a partner rather than a tool.
On its first appearance it knocks out the Copper Kidd and frees Mo-Lec-U-Lar from a restraint jacket. In The Bounty Chase it is itself disguised as Zeek, which no other bird in the series manages. It shoots out Monotone so that Mo-Lec-U-Lar can take the computer’s shape, and it ignites leaking fuel at the Artificial Sun.
Its end comes in Junkyard Dog. Mo-Lec-U-Lar whistles it in when the Dirty Larry disguise collapses, and Hotwing destroys it with a shoulder-jet laser. The show does not undo that on screen. Kenner sold it as “Mo-Lec-U-Lar with Volt-Ure” in the 1986 first wave.
