He is in every episode but two. The exceptions are The Hardware Trap - Part II and The Bounty Hunter Returns, and the second of those is the only episode of the sixty-five with no Mon*Star and no Mob in it at all.
The show establishes a lot about him and explains almost none of it. He has operated in Limbo for over three hundred years, he has escaped Penal Planet 10 twice, and he holds a personal grudge against Stargazer for the second capture. It never says what species he is, where the MoonStar’s power comes from, or why the transformation needs Yes-Man to aim BrimStar into the crater by hand.
That transformation is the most repeated image in the series and it is worth pausing on. A crime boss has to be manually pointed at a light source by a subordinate before he can become dangerous, every single week. His third and strongest state exists only once, off a MoonStone fragment, in the episode MoonStar.
The running oddity is forgiveness. He is mutinied against by Melodia, by Yes-Man and by Poker-Face, and every time he takes them back with no consequence at all.
Voice. Wikipedia and the ThunderCats wiki both credit Earl Hammond, and this is the single most repeated attribution in the fandom. Hammond is in the block credit and nothing more. The voice match is plausible, since he also played Jaga and Mumm-Ra, but no primary source assigns the role.
