Gyro is built by the Steel twins and arrives fourteen episodes after Hotwing does, which makes sense: Hotwing had only just joined when the other four birds were commissioned, and nobody discusses a companion for him at the time.
It mirrors his signature move, spinning while firing lasers at random or in a downward wave, and it can dive-bomb a vehicle. Its debut is nearly its end. It knocks Hardware off the Zoomer into a canyon, and then Melodia destroys it with the Sound Smasher.
It comes back anyway, with no explanation offered by the show or by anyone since, searching for Dirty Larry alongside Backlash and Sly-Bird. Mumbo Jumbo finally beats it during the attempt to arrest Mon*Star. Three appearances in total, with one unexplained resurrection in the middle of them, and that is a hole in the show rather than a gap in the sources.
