Automata

Automata is metal all the way through, with no organic population at all, and it answers to a sentient supercomputer called Monotone. What makes it matter to the rest of Limbo is the Crystal Mine: the Power Crystals cut there run most of the galaxy, which turns a mining world into a strategic one and gives the Mob a standing reason to come back. Automatic defence rockets guard it.

The Copper Kidd repairs Monotone in one episode. No other episode gives him a job that needs a specialism, so it is the closest the series comes to naming one. In another the Mob shrink the planet down and steal the lot.
