The Hardware Mark 7 Trick Handcuffs

Setting up Mon*Star escape from Penal Planet 10 means Hardware has to be inside it, which means he needs his own way out. These are the way out. They look like ordinary grey cuffs and come off when he wants them off.

The second function is better. Once free, he uses the cuffs themselves to lever the bars apart, so the thing holding him in becomes the thing that gets him out. Mark 7 implies six earlier attempts, which the show never mentions again.
